Engine and gearbox of a classic Porsche

RSR Spray-Oil Cooling Conversion

The oil supply of the 911 RSR, ST and 914/6 GT — retrofitted to your gearbox

From the factory, the 911 RSR, ST and 914/6 GT received a spray-oil system that feeds gear teeth and bearings under racing load. We retrofit this solution during a rebuild — for the gearboxes of all air-cooled Porsches.

What we do

During the conversion the gearbox receives a spray-oil supply modelled on the works racing cars: oil is directed at the meshing zones of the gears and at the bearing seats instead of relying on splash lubrication alone. The conversion is best done during a rebuild — the gearbox is stripped anyway, and the fresh setup is part of the job.

What it gives you

  • Lubrication under load
at high revs and under sustained full throttle, splash lubrication breaks down — the spray-oil supply keeps the oil film where it is needed.
  • Temperature under control
directed oil flow lowers peak temperatures at teeth and bearings — combined with gearbox oil cooling and filtration on request.
  • A factory solution, not an improvisation
the conversion follows what Porsche itself ran in racing — proven in the 911 RSR, ST and 914/6 GT.

Typical problems this solves

  • Overheated gearbox oil on circuits and hillclimbs
  • Gear tooth wear after sustained full-load running
  • Gearbox failures with uprated engines that overwhelm the standard lubrication

For which gearboxes

The conversion is possible for the gearboxes of all air-cooled Porsches — from the 901 through 915 and 930 to the G50. It makes sense wherever the car is used in motorsport or driven hard on the road.

What is on your bench?

Gearbox type and a few lines about your request — that is all we need for a first assessment. A photo helps but is not required. The answer comes from the machinist, not from sales.
