Limited-slip differential in motorsport specification

Porsche 930 Gearbox Rebuild

Rebuild to factory specification, gearbox shafts for the Turbo, uprated drive shafts

The turbo torque of the 930 still tests its drivetrain today. We rebuild the gearbox to factory specification, remanufacture gearbox shafts and supply the LSD and uprated shafts that can take the boost.

What we do on the 930 gearbox

  • Rebuild to factory specification
stripping, measuring, reconditioning of all bearing seats and gear wheels, ring-and-pinion setup, test-bench run.
  • Gearbox shafts for the 930 Turbo
newly made in high-strength steel — the known weak point with power upgrades.
  • Limited-slip differential
locking value 25–75%, dimensioned for turbo torque.
  • Uprated drive shafts and stub axles (915/930)
machined from a single billet and heat-treated.

Typical problems this solves

  • Uprated engines destroying standard shafts and splines
  • Turbo-typical sudden load changes hammering bearing seats and drive splines
  • Inside-wheel wheelspin without an LSD making the power undriveable

Why inquire here

With the 930 it comes down to material: we dimension shafts and gear teeth for the actual torque — not for the 1975 standard specification.

In stock for the 930 gearbox

  • Limited-slip differential and axle flanges — both sit in stock, no production lead time
  • We do not carry a final drive for the 930 — those are in stock for nine other types

Common questions

01 Why do gearbox shafts fail in the 930 Turbo?

The standard specification dates from 1975. Uprated engines destroy standard shafts and gear teeth because sudden load changes hammer out bearing seats and drive splines. We produce the shafts new from high-strength steel and size them for the torque actually present.

02 Is there a limited-slip differential for the 930 gearbox?

Yes. It has a locking value of 25 to 75 per cent and is matched to the torque of the turbo engine. Differential and drive flanges are held in stock, with no manufacturing wait.

03 Do you supply a final drive for the 930 gearbox?

No. We do not carry a final drive for the 930 gearbox — we hold them in stock for nine other types.

What is on your bench?

Gearbox type and a few lines about your request — that is all we need for a first assessment. A photo helps but is not required. The answer comes from the machinist, not from sales.
